Adding shortcuts to your Teradata SQL Assistant Query Tabs

July 25, 2014 0 comments Article Easy, SQL, Teradata

Move between tabs in Teradata’s SQL Assistant by assigning Short-Cuts to them

If you have a query window with multiple tabs, you may want to be able to quickly jump between them.

You can do this by using Alt+PgUp / Alt+PgDown, much like you can in Excel, most tabbed browsers etc

Another way, is to assign hot-keys to the queries. The good news is this is very quick and very easy to do.

Simply rename your query tab, but add an ampersand sign before the letter / number you want to assign as the hotkey.

This will turn the 1 into the hotkey.

Do this for any other tabs you want to hot-key

Then you can use Alt+HotKey to switch between them

Ta-Da!

Brucie Bonus:

At beginning of the article, I mentioned being able to use Alt+PgUp/Down to tab between queries. If you wanted to take things further – if you have a programmable mouse (I use the Logitech MX range), you can also assign this hot-key combination to your mouse. Mine is program specific, so I am able to set mine to use the browser back/forward buttons to tab between queries when in SQL Assistant.
